You should buy a few tubes of acrylic gouache, which have all the benefits of acrylic with the beautiful velvet finish of gouache. They are also more pigmented than standard acrylics. I think you would like them, especially on watercolour paper.
The biggest size I’ve worked on was 20×30 and it was a watercolor board. I loved working on it and would like to do more that size. I’d really like to get watercolor canvas and work at large sizes, with oils too. I find I can express myself fully on large pieces. The smallest I prefer to work at is 11×14
I had to stop the video, to like it and share it with my artses friends the moment you put those packs of squeezy paints up to your face and mushed em. LOL. Thank you for bein so goofy. That last painting was my favorite, love your style!!!
I hope you don't mind me saying this, but you did say you are not so experienced with acrylic paints and thought you might like to know this. With acrylic paints whilst yes technically you are physically able to water down to watercolour consistency, however acrylic paints are not designed to do that unless using a special medium. The reason for this is because of the polymer content, if you dilute them too much you break the polymer bond. Acrylics are essentially plastic and if you water them down too much you get what's called under binding. This could result in paint cracking and falling off the canvas. even golden professional paints claim they can only be diluted 50% so if using less quality i suspect it will be less water that can be used to dilute before you get under binding. I hope this info is useful for you. Ps I really enjoy your videos. T x
love these I really like your color combos and your design they all do work together, I loved the blue hair guy reminds me of T.O.P. of Big Bang .. The last one is only creepy cus you know its your face as the base for it .. Thats really funny tho. Looks great
You shouldn't thin down your acrylic paint too much with water as it degrades the structure of the paint and can cause it to not adhere to the surface or have longevity. You can however use a thinning medium to create a glaze?
The abstract-ness of these acrylic pieces is so fascinating. I haven’t been able to develop a way to convey abstract ideas in visual ways, but observing and studying your art is so helpful.
Love how your paintings came out for being a beginner. Sometimes a limited palette is better than being overwhelmed by too many colors 🙂
A couple of shows you might like for acrylic painting- Paint this with Jerry Yarnell, and Travel and Painting with Roger and Sarah. Both on KSPS and they are great acrylic painting teachers with different techniques.
It’s awesome to see what sizes different artists work with… my last Speedpaint I uploaded was the smallest canvas I normally work with and it’s 24×36 inches.. I feel very constricted on small canvases ? love your videos!
