I actually use an alternate way of shading.
I use the same colour of the base ( exemple : red) and I use multiplication ( im french so some of these words may not be spelled right) and i got over where it should be shaded. That why , I don't have to keep up with any colour and plus if i use a black outline ( all of the time ) it doesn't show up because its multiplication.

I never had a proper device to draw besides paper… And i am AWFUL and I mean REALLY AWFUL at coloring my characters on paper, so usually my drawings are all blank, without colors or shades (because the shading gets really ugly even in blank)
I really love seeing all these tutorials and keep daydreaming about having a proper device to draw where coloring and shading wouldn't be a problem for me

Because I’m not normal, I like to draw aquatic creatures because screw legs. When you are shading it’s more difficult because you need to know how water manipulates light. I drew a weird Plesiosaurus combined with a mosasaur and some other dinosaur. I made it look like it was coming from a darker zone in the water going upwards to find more prey. The lighting was difficult though.

I like to shade with a darker version of the color I want to shade. I think it looks really nice.

Honestly it really depends on what you want it to look like tho.
I mean, if you want it to look realistic, then you most likely shouldn't shade like she does in the video, because it would look cartooney instead :v.
