Thank you so much for doing this video. Something that I’ve always wanted. You are a great tutor and I am sure your talent will take you to high places.
Thank you Yupari. Very helpfull video! Watched it 2 times.I was lucky to win a complete set of Cobra. However, I was very disappointed the first time I tried it out. What irritated me most was that the paint stayed sticky for days. I did not know a medium extists that makes the paint dry quicker. The medium in the box says 'improved quality, does not influence the drying time'. Using water as a diluent you have to be very careful to prevent the paint from becoming as thin as water colour paint! Starting with acrylic paint to create an underpainting, seems a good idea.
Man, I laughed at the way you threw away the mineral spirits. Great video! I was thinking of buying the same thing. Been studying Zorn with gouache for a while.
Thank you for sharing so much information and your experience with these paints. You have answered so many questions which would have taken me a long time to have experienced. You are such a good artist and teacher and appreciate your openness. Looking forward to joining you on Patreon soon! I’m going through an Atelier drawing course and once I’m ready to move will then come and learn from you to get started in cobra oil paint. Blessings for your career and thanks again Yupari .
One suggestion. Try using the thinner formulated for water mixable oil paints. I found the performance far superior versus water as a thinner. I use water just for cleanup. The thinner feels a lot like OMS in how it handles
Yes! This IS the video I was waiting for! Of all the vids on YouTube, I've yet to find a classic portrait painter provide such in-depth instruction on the use of water mixable oils as you have. Sharing your experience with various brands and techniques is very helpful. I agree that Cobra (Royal Talens) makes a fine product. They also have great customer service.

I say we all should write to Royal Talens and tell them to sponsor Yupari and his work because he totally worth that. Who is with me?

I use, normal oil (Rembrandt, schmincke) paints with only linseed (without turp/OMS), Its barely has any odor and I have very little issues.
